HAVE A PEACEFUL JOY AND NOT A COMPLAINING HEART
Fathers shall not die because of their children, nor children die because of their fathers, but each one shall die for his own sin. —II Chronicles 25:4
So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. —John 16:22
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. —John 16:33
I cannot blame my parents or children for my sin and neither can you. Each of us is responsible for our own sin. Too many times people blame their parents for the way they are. Well the environment we were brought up may have contributed to who we are, but our sinful selves determine the choices we make and we cannot live our whole lives blaming our parents or children for who we are. No, instead we need to take responsibility for our own person and the choices we make.
Instead of stewing in complaint we can look to Jesus and experience joy! When we grow in our understanding of Who He is our joy will also grow and our hearts will rejoice. This is a joy that nobody in this world can take away from us. Do you have the joy of knowing Jesus and living for Him?
Not only can we rejoice in the joy of knowing Jesus, but we can also have peace in Jesus. This is a peace that “passes all understanding” and will “guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). Yes, this peace will permeate both our thinking and our emotions as we keep our “eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2). Do you have the peace than comes from knowing Jesus and living for Him? May that be the case!
I thank You dear Father for the joy and peace that comes from knowing Jesus. Oh that I would share this message with others that they too would know this joy and peace by knowing Him.
