BE WISE!
BE WISE!
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. —Proverbs 1:7
How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? —Proverbs 1:22
My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. —Proverbs 2:1-6
Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. —Proverbs 3:7
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. —Proverbs 3:13-14
Fools despise the wisdom and instruction that comes from having a right relationship with our Lord God Almighty. The fool does not want the wisdom of our Lord. Instead, they want the wisdom of this world— “Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” (I Corinthians 1:20). “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt; their acts are vile. There is no one who does good” (Psalm 14:1). The fool does not seek God but instead seeks his own corrupt way. The fool needs to “come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to his will” (II Timothy 2:26).
Fools hate the knowledge of God and scoff. This has been clearly seen when being a witness at the abortion clinic in the area. So many people there are angry and don’t want to hear about God. But even there God can work. Please pray for the director of that clinic, Dahlia, she did accept a New Testament. Please pray she would read it, come to Christ and be a faithful witness for Him! Please pray also that our Lord would be pleased to cause that clinic to be shut down. May it be so!
If people would only seek wisdom as they do silver or hidden treasure then they would “understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.” Yet there are those who would rather seek after money without any desire to seek after God’s wisdom. How sad that people have such skewed priorities. Wow, we who desire wisdom have from His mouth “knowledge and understanding.” Praise His Name! But sadly there are those who are “wise in their own eyes” and won’t “turn away from evil.”
Brother and sister we are blessed to find His wisdom and His understanding. This is by far so much more valuable than silver and gold. Yes, let us continually seek wisdom— the proper perspective on who our Lord is, the proper application to life His knowledge and the turning away from evil. Oh yes, may this be our heart’s desire. Dear Father may I have Your wisdom in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. May it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ehy0kDnTnK0
