BE WHERE GOD DESIRES YOU TO BE!

BE WHERE GOD DESIRES YOU TO BE!

There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” —I Kings 19:9-10

Ever have the Lord say that to you? I remember pastoring a local church shortly after I finished Bible College. I was there for four years, resigned and said, “I will never go back into the pastorate again.” So for the next 3 years I went back into construction. I still spent time with the Lord, witnessed and was part of a local church, but I did not think the pastorate was for me.

Then one day I was standing in a muddy ditch, in the rain, in the fall and it was damp and raw. The impression came, “What are you doing here?” I said, “OK Lord, if you want me to go back into the pastorate, I will. Shortly thereafter the Lord opened up the way and I was in the pastorate again and have been ever since… That happened about 20 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_aVFVveJNs

I am so glad that God is sooo patient with us… with me. The 20 years have not been without its challenges, but I know I am where He presently wants me and seek to serve Him faithfully. It has been exciting because our Lord also had me serve back at the New Hampshire State Prison where there has been “much fruit.” For instance… I am presently discipling my 19th group of men. There are twelve men in this group and many are new believers. This would not be happening if I hadn’t been obedient and returned to the service He desired of me. It is exciting to see the hand of God at work. May He be greatly glorified!

Are you in one of those “what are you doing here” moments? Is the Lord God Almighty seeking to get your attention to serve Him in an area where you vacated? Well if He desires you back into service you need to be obedient and do so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8Sx_U0Ztr8

Dear Father, Your plan is best and may I seek to be faithful in it. Oh, that I would be sensitive to how You are guiding and be and do what You desire. May it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. Yes, so be it.
