HOLINESS
HOLINESS
The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so. —Joshua 5:15
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy” (I Peter 1:15-16). We are told to “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). “This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” (Colossians 1:21-22).
On one hand, like so many other areas of the Christian walk, we are holy in our position before Him. Then, on the other hand, in our daily experience we are to be living holy. The Lord God Almighty positioned us in Himself when we trusted Jesus to be holy, righteous and sanctified. Now as we live for Him we are to grow in our living out holiness, righteousness and sanctification. May we be faithful to the One Whose very character is Holy.
Dear Father, may I live a holy life in the Lord Jesus and by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Yes, may this be so.
