OUR GRACIOUS LORD GOD ALMIGHTY
You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! —II Timothy 3:1-5
But if you stop your sinning and begin to obey the Lord your God, he will change his mind about this disaster that he has announced against you. —Jeremiah 26:13
But did King Hezekiah and the people kill him for saying this? No, they turned from their sins and worshiped the Lord. They begged him for mercy. Then the Lord changed his mind about the terrible disaster he had pronounced against them. So we are about to do ourselves great harm.” —Jeremiah 26:19
The Lord God Almighty is such a gracious God. When people are being wicked and doing wicked things if only they turn from their wickedness, beg Him for mercy and then He may change His mind about the terrible disaster He is bringing. It happened in Hezekiah’s time when Micah had prophesied coming disaster and it would have happened in Jeremiah’s time if the people would have repented. Yes, our Lord God Almighty is great in grace and mercy and when people repent of their wickedness then He is willing to relent from the disaster He is planning to bring.
Where is the U.S. in His plan? Are we on the brink of disaster, are we already reaping the natural consequences of our national disobedience? I would say we are. There is so much corruption out in the open and “When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong” (Ecclesiastes 8:11). Government corruption will spread— “If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials become wicked” (Proverbs 29:12). You think God is pleased with what is happening with our government right now? I think not!
Fellow followers of Jesus let us shine in this dark world, in this dark nation. May we be salt and light regardless of who is in office. Our stand is no different— we stand for Jesus and His values. “For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News?” (I Peter 4:17). Yes, let us live in such a way that we hear Him say, “Well done good and faithful servant.” May it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zARVp3420I&list=PLcHqC9YNzSaD-O-rkP9o8hDA9jJ_oja4l&index=4
Dear Father, may I shine for Jesus and be salt in our nation. Oh, that I would be obedient to You above all things and above all people. Help me to live life in accordance to Your desires in the authority of Jesus and by the power of Your Holy Spirit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3HH__-1Zbs&index=5&list=PLcHqC9YNzSaD-O-rkP9o8hDA9jJ_oja4l
