OVERCOMERS
The world can’t hate you, but it does hate me because I accuse it of doing evil. —John 7:7
Jesus was not convicted of doing anything wrong. Pilate, the governor, had told the people after interrogating Jesus that he “found no basis for your charges against him” (Luke 23:4, 14, 22). Still, Pilate handed Jesus over to be executed because that is what the people wanted (Luke 23:23-25). He caved in to their desires and handed the innocent Jesus over to be executed.
Killing someone is the pinnacle of the hatred that starts in a man’s heart— Jesus said, “For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander” (Matthew 15:19). The world system under Satan, He heads up the kingdom of darkness, is filled with these things. The world hated Jesus because He accused it of doing evil. Don’t be surprised when the word hates you when you speak against the evil it does. We do not have to look too far to see that. In fact we are told in II Timothy 3:12 that “everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” You will face opposition if you truly live for Jesus! It will come in various forms— overtly and covertly, obvious and subtle.
Just remember, as Jesus overcome the world (John 16:33) so also we overcome the world by our faith in Him (I John 5:1-5). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP_XATZQ8sU
Dear Father, may I be faithful to You regardless of what the world seeks to do to me. Oh, that I would shine for Jesus and encourage others to trust Him as well. May this be so in the power of the Holy Spirit.
