PRECIOUS CORNERSTONE!
So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. —Isaiah 28:16
The cornerstone is what the rest of the building is leveled and plumbed to. It sets the direction and placement of the building. Years ago a wealthy person was having a very nice home built. The building was well under way when he came out to take a look. Apparently, the “cornerstone” had not been placed to his liking because the building was not in the location that he wanted. He did not have the exact views that he wanted. There was no fixing the building at that point. Since the “cornerstone” had been set the whole building was laid out accordingly. He had the whole building torn down and the builders started all over again. This time the owner directed them where he wanted the “cornerstone” placed so the whole building would be in the right place according to his liking.
How is the building of your life going? Is Jesus your “Cornerstone?” If He is then your life should be measured from His. Your life is to be built off of His. This is not the case for most people. They would rather build on the cornerstone of their own making. The cornerstone is the most important part of the building which will determine the rest of the building. Look around at people’s lives and see what they are building off of. When you know them to a degree their life will show what the cornerstone is.
A couple days ago I was talking with a fellow about Jesus. He told me he had his own ideas and when I asked what they were it was not a statement about belief, but about what he did not believe and that is the church that Jesus is building. He had wrong concepts of “church” and what it is. That was his cornerstone and that is what he is presently building his life off of.
What or who is the “cornerstone” of your life? If you evaluate your “building” you can determine that answer. Oh, that Jesus would truly be the Cornerstone of our lives and may our lives resemble the building that He desires. May it be so!
Dear Father, oh that I would not seek to build off of any other cornerstone than the One that is already place— Jesus. May my life resemble the building that You desire it to be in Him. May it be so!
