YOU ARE SENT… GO!
“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” —John 20:21
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. —John 20:30
Fellow follower of Jesus, we are sent ones! As our Father sent Jesus into the world, now Jesus sends us into the world (John 17:18). Yes, we are sent ones. The question is— Are we going?
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” —Romans 10:9-15
So the question is— “As having been sent by Jesus, are we bringing the good news to those who have not heard? How can a person hear and believe if we are not obedient disciples of Jesus bringing the Word of God to them? His Word was given to us that we pass it on to others that they too would believe and pass it on to others and do so right to the end of this age (Matthew 28:20).
Jesus was absolutely obedient in carrying out the work His Father sent Him to do. Now will we be obedient to the work Jesus has sent us to do (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 2:10)? May we be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqBi7srlHk4
Dear Father please help me to be obedient to Your desires. Thank You for sending Jesus and all the work that He has done so people can be saved from their sin and to a relationship with You through Him and by Your Holy Spirit’s enabling. Now, by the power of Your Holy Spirit may I proclaim this good news to all who will listen. Oh, be pleased Father, to do a new thing among us by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. May it be so.
