KEEP HIS WORD

KEEP HIS WORD

My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you; keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. —Proverbs 7:1-3

“And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways.  Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.  Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors.  For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the LORD, but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.” —Proverbs 8:32-35

Life and death are determined by relationship with the Lord.  Jesus said that He was the only way (John 14:6; Acts 4:12).  Those who truly love Him keep His Word (John 14:21).

In the Scripture portions above we are told to:

  • Keep His word
  • Treasure His word
  • Keep His teaching
  • Bind His word on our fingers
  • Write His word on our hearts
  • Listen to Him
  • Be daily at His gates
  • Be waiting by His doors
  • Find Him, find life
  • Find Him, find favor

But for those who do not find Him they injure themselves.  Those who hate Him love death.  This is why our prisons and jails are full because people are not living according to His word, but living according to their own desires.  Their bad choices wind them up in confinement.

I find it interesting that those who hate Him and don’t want to have anything to do with Him love death.  They say things like— “Death is the end of all things” or “When you are dead you are dead and that is the end” or “We die like a dog” or “Death is final.”  They love to talk about death as if that is the summary of all of life.  To talk about death as the grand finality of all things gives them excuse that they will have nothing to do with God.  How foolish (Psalm 14:1).

Those who love Him will keep His Word and live.  Those who hate Him will not keep His Word and die… eternally separated in hell from Him and all who love Him (Matthew 25:46).  How sad this is.  Let us bring the message to all that many may respond to Him for salvation.  May it be so.

Dear Father may I keep Your Word and encourage those who love You and warn those who do not.  May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
